MARKET RESEARCH
Across individual State Government COVID-19 websites there were no COVID Safe Plans and Guidelines specific to the live music industry or similarity in processes and terminology, making it difficult to plan operations on a national level.
CURRENT SOLUTION
Analysing the existing solution hosted on a Google Sheets document, it was clear that the navigability of the information and access to hyperlinks was restricted by this application's functionality. The content also lacked uniformity across topics with some entries lacking references to assess the reliability of the information contained.
USER INTERVIEWS
Talking to a collection of ALMBC members and live music business operators I discovered most users were keen to get back to providing live music if they could determine the financial viability of operating based on the restrictions they had to adhere to. They confirmed the lack of user-friendliness of the current dashboard, particularly for those conducting multi-state operations.
USER JOURNEY
There were two prime users for the dashboard accessing similar information, Local Operators and National Operators, who required COVID information for a single state or multiple-states respectively. We would design the dashboard with two experiences to cater for both.
PROBLEM STATEMENTS
Local Operators need to locate industry specific information on COVID-19 rules and regulations so they can create a robust COVID Safe Plan and operating procedure. National Operators need to know COVID restrictions from multiple-states so they can discern the financial viability of national operations.
SOLUTION
Within budget and development restrictions I designed a flow where Local Users could access their states information directly and quickly navigate between topics and a National Operator flow where multiple states could be loaded and information viewable across these topics within expandable accordions
USER TESTING
Upon testing with users and talking with the ALMBC we decided to ditch the Local Operator flow and further develop the National Operator experience, using aspects of both designs to create a true dashboard that allowed a customisable overview of one or multiple states as required.
SUMMARY
The AMLBC were happy with the final design, the developed product and the work I was able to create for them. As my first solo lead project I was able to hone my skills in stakeholder management and build my confidence making decisions in my own UX process.
